NORMAN — BridgeView United Methodist Church

Sunday, the congregation will celebrate Easter with liturgical dance, brass ensemble, music, the revealing of the Word and more.

Brookhaven Baptist Church

Sunday will include a sermon on “The Great Getting Up Morning” with Jim Hoipkemier.

Concord Missionary Baptist Church

The celebration of the resurrection of Christ will be highlighted by a sermon titled, “Life In The Resurrection” as Pastor Clark leads in the study of Philippians 3:10. Lunch will be served after the morning service and then afternoon worship will be held as the study of Ephesians concludes with the message, “The Bounds Of Spiritual Fellowship,” from Ephesians 6:21-24. There will be no evening services Sunday.

CrossPointe Church

Sunday will conclude the series, “Stuck,” by examining why the Resurrection frees individuals from hopelessness.

East Robinson Baptist Church

Pastor Fred Hambrick’s message Sunday will be about the Resurrection of Jesus. The church will host a reception for Pastor Fred and Lola’s 50th wedding anniversary from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Faith Pointe Baptist Church

Sunday, Pastor Gann will preach “Who Are You Looking For?” from John 19:10-17. There will be no evening services.

First Baptist Church

The classic and LifeSong services on Sunday morning will proclaim the empty tomb. Dr. Wade Smith’s sermon will ask the question, “Who Will Roll the Stone Away?”

First Christian Church

Sunday’s sermon is titled “Resurrecting” based on John 20:1-18, with the Rev. David Spain preaching. An all church Easter brunch will be held in Fellowship Hall beginning at 9:45 a.m.

First Presbyterian Church

The Chancel Choir, directed by Dr. Clark Kelly, and the Brass Ensemble, directed by Dr. Irv Wagner, will share the joy of Easter at both morning services. The Rev. Dr. Bob Rice will preach an Easter sermon titled, “Believing is Seeing” based on Luke 24:13-35 at both services. The congregation will share Easter breads in the atrium from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. There will be no evening activities.

Grace Presbyterian Church

Sunday, the Rev. Todd Dole will preach from Romans 6:1-14, “United with Christ.” Sunday evening, will be a hymn sing, followed by a fellowship dinner.

Holy Ascension Orthodox Church

Sunday is the second Sunday of Great Lent, the Sunday of St. Gregory Palamas, in Tone 2 Eothinon 10. The Gospel reading for Orthros is from St. John 21:1-14. The Epistle reading for Divine Liturgy is St. Paul’s Epistle to the Hebrews 1:10-14 and 2:1-3. The Gospel reading for Divine Liturgy is from St. Mark 2:1-12

Presbyterian Church

Sunday, the Rev. Tracy Evans’ message will be “Living Easter” based on Luke 24:1-12.

Robinson Street Baptist Church

The Rev. Bill Blair will deliver a sermon based on the Resurrection. Blair is hoping to have 125 in attendance. Sunday evening, will include and old-fashion testimony.

St. Stephen’s United

Methodist Church

Sunday, Amy Venable will deliver the sermon “Singing Hallelujah As The Son Rises,” from John 20:1-18.

South Canadian Valley Church of Christ

Sunday, guest speaker Chris Jarrell from Amarillo, Texas, will speak on “Dead Men.”

Trinity Baptist Church

Sunday, Senior Pastor Ronnie W. Rogers will speak on “Where is God When Things Go Wrong?” from Matthew 27:57-66. All evening activities will be canceled Sunday night.

Trinity Lutheran Church (LC-MS)

The sermon for Easter Sunday will be “He is Not Here, But has Arisen!” based on Luke 24:1-12.

United Church of Norman — UCC

“Have You Ever Wondered What Easter Means to You?” is the title of the message to be delivered by the Rev. Warren E. Jensen, D. Min. The scripture reading will be from John 20:1-18. 

University Christian Church

Sunday, Dr. James Taylor will deliver the sermon, “Father Forgive Them.”

University Lutheran Church and Student Center (ELCA)

The Festival of the Resurrection will be celebrated with contemporary worship at both morning services. Each service will feature music and instrumentalists including a brass quartet in the second service. Communion will be offered at both services lead by Pastor Joe Summerville who will speak on the resurrection text from the book of Luke. The annual Easter brunch will take place between the Sunday services. For details, call the church office, 321-1584.

Victory Church of Norman

Senior Pastor Fred Sellers plans to preside over a team preaching of the Easter narrative at the afternoon service on Sunday.

West Wind Unitarian Universalist

Congregation

Sunday, Andy Jabobs will lead a musical, “Celebration of Easter and the Rites of Spring.”

Westwood Baptist Church

Pastor Scott Liner will bring the message Sunday and the congregation will observe The Lord’s Supper.

Wildwood

Community Church

Sunday, there will be a time of praise and worship, testimonies and an Easter themed sermon from Teaching Pastor Bruce A. Hess.
