NORMAN — Norman High graduate Tanner Satterthwaite leaves Tuesday to serve a two-year mission in the Cambodia Phnom Penh Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Before going to Cambodia, Tanner will spend 10 weeks in the Missionary Training Center (MTC) in Provo, Utah, learning the Khmer language.
In high school, Tanner received the following awards: Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year Award (SAMMY), Gatorade Oklahoma Boy’s Cross Country Athlete of the Year and the Jim Thorpe Cross Country Award. He also is a graduate from the LDS Seminary religious education program and is an Eagle Scout.
“I’m really excited to be serving the people of Cambodia. While it will be sad to be away from Norman for two years, I know it will be a life changing experience,” Satterthwaite said.
