Faith community



Grace Presbyterian Church

Sunday, the Rev. Todd Dole will preach from Hebrews 2:10-18, “The Perfect Savior.” Sunday evening, the Rev. Dole will preach from 1 Peter 2:18-25, “The Christian at Work.”

Holy Ascension Orthodox Church

Sunday is the 27th after Pentecost and is in Tone2/Eothinon 5. The congregation will commemorate the Conception of the Theotokus by the Rightous Anne. The Orthros Gospel is from Saint Luke 24:12-35. The Divine Liturgy Epistle is from Saint Paul's letter to the Galatians, 4:22-27, and the Gospel is from Saint Luke, 13:10-17.

McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church

This week will continue the sermon series “The Best Christmas Ever.” The Rev. Linda Harker (sanctuary services) and the Rev. Randy Wade (Lifeline service in Fenn Hall) will preach a sermon titled “Expecting a Miracle,” from Luke 1:11-15a, 18-19. 

Memorial Presbyterian Church

Sunday the Rev. Tracy Evans’ message will be “Getting Ourselves Prepared” based on Malachi 3:1-4 and Luke 3:1-6.

NorthHaven Church

Dr. Mitch Randall will bring the message “The Right Ornament,” from Malachi 3:1-4.

St. Stephen’s United

Methodist Church

Sunday, the Rev. Amy Venable’s sermon will be “But Who May Abide the Day of His Coming?” (What kind of king will this baby be?), and is based on Malachi 3:1-4.

South Canadian Valley Church of Christ

Sunday, the guest speaker will be Mike Minson. His topic will be “Anger Management.”

Trinity Baptist Church

Sunday, Senior Pastor Ronnie W. Rogers will speak on “When the Thorn Won’t Come Out,” from 2 Corinthians 12: 7-10. Sunday evening, the adult choir will present “The Hope of Christmas — Share the Light.”

Trinity Lutheran Church (LC-MS)

The sermon for the second Sunday in Advent is titled “Fruit in Keeping with Repentance,” from Luke 3:1-14. Christmas caroling to the shut-ins of the church will be from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday.

United Church of Norman — UCC

“John’s Call Back to the Basics!” will be the title of the reflection shared by the Rev. Warren Jensen. The scripture text will be read from Luke 3:1-18. A potluck and new member orientation class will follow the 11:10 a.m. service.
