NORMAN — Trinity Lutheran to host block party

Trinity Lutheran Church, 603 Classen Blvd., will host its third annual community block party from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday.

The free event will include food, drink, prizes, moon bounces, a dunk tank and live music.

Church to host Bring A Friend Day

Sunday at Westwood Baptist Church, 724 Fairway Drive, will be Bring A Friend Day.

The church will not have Sunday school this week and services will begin at 10 a.m. with guest singers, congregational singing and a message from pastor Scott Liner.

The service will be followed by a cookout and activities plan for the children.

Mannafest lunch Wednesday

The Mannafest community lunch will be from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday at Common Ground, 327 W. Main St.

Mike Bumgarner, chaplain with Norman Regional Health Systems, will be the keynote speaker. A donation of $5 is requested for the lunch.

Cell Phones for Soldiers Drive at ULCSC

Members of the University Lutheran Church, 914 Elm Ave., are collecting retired cell phones to contribute to the Cell Phones for Soldiers program.

Each cell phone that is recycled earns one hour of phone time for overseas military personnel.

Community members are invited to leave unused cell phones in a decorated box in the church entryway for recycling.

Bethel Baptist to host women’s retreat

A women’s retreat featuring former Miss America Lauren Nelson as a keynote speaker will be from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Oct. 6 at Bethel Baptist Church.

Cost for the retreat, to be held at the church’s student event building at 1807 W. Lindsey St., will be $15.

A nursery will be provided for children ages birth to 12. To RSVP for the retreat or the nursery by Sunday, call the church at 329-3749.

Sung Vespers on first Thursdays

St. Thomas More University Parish will host a Sung Vespers at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the church, 100 E. Stinson. Parking will be available in the lot adjacent to the church as well as the lots north and east of St. Thomas More.

Sung Vespers in November will be at 7 p.m. on Nov. 8.

Jehovah’s Witness conference Oct. 14

Jehovah’s Witnesses in the Moore area will attend a day of spiritual instruction on Oct. 14 at the Rose State Performing Arts Center in Midwest City.

The program will begin at 9:40 a.m. and the theme is based on 1 Timothy 1:19, “Safeguard Your Conscience.”

The event is open to the public and no collection will be taken.
