NORMAN — St. Stephen’s United Methodist Church, 1801 W. Brooks St., will present “Joy Beyond Words,” an annual program of hand bell and instrumental music, at 7 p.m. on Sunday in the church sanctuary. The concert is free and open to the public.

Christmas carols, ancient and new, will be played by St. Stephen’s three hand bell choirs, two brass quartets, flute quartet, recorder consort, string and woodwind duets and piano and marimba soloists. Musicians in this intergenerational program range from third grade to “retirement” age, said St. Stephen’s choir director Venita MacGorman.

“St. Stephen’s is very fortunate to have a number of instrumentalists in our congregation who are always ‘on call’ to participate in the worship services,” MacGorman said. “At Christmas time, it has been our tradition to combine all of them in this unique concert of songs without words. We welcome everyone to come enjoy the sounds of the season.”
