NORMAN — Several weeks ago, Tom Diepenbrock of Norman was campaigning door to door for a political candidate he was supporting when he came to a startling realization.

“It occurred to me that I’m willing to do this for a friend, so why shouldn’t I do this for Christ?” Diepenbrock said.

When Alan Danielson, senior pastor at New Life Bible Church in Norman where Diepenbrock attends church with his family, heard the story, it really struck a chord.

Danielson and the New Life Bible Church staff created a website, www.ChristOK2012.com, as well as door hangers, to help other church members “campaign” for Jesus.

“We believe the most important platform in the world is not a political one, but a spiritual one. Jesus’ message of love, forgiveness, hope and eternal life is all-inclusive and all-encompassing,” said Danielson. “We thought we’d leverage the political climate of our culture and point people to something a little different.”

ChristOK2012.com is a politically-inspired website that is not at all political. The purpose of the site is two-fold: to direct people to the story of Jesus while helping them understand what it means to follow him, and to encourage people of faith to pray for the nation.
