Mayor’s Interfaith Breakfast set for Jan. 21

NORMAN — To bring together Norman’s diverse faith communities, and to honor the work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Mayor Cindy Rosenthal and the Norman Human Rights Commission will host a Mayor’s Interfaith Breakfast on Jan. 21 in Fenn Hall at McFarlin Memorial Methodist Church, 419 S. University Blvd. Doors will open at 7:30 a.m. with the program beginning at 8 a.m.

Featured speakers are Lisa Eubanks, president of People First, and Linda Shannon, board member of Progressive Independence and CART. Spiritual commentary will be offered by representatives of several faiths.

“We are delighted to welcome our faith communities to this special time of inspiration and celebration as we reflect on Dr. King’s legacy. As urgently today as ever, his ideals reach out to the essential humanity that exists in us all,” said Kay Ham, chairperson of the Norman Human Rights Commission.
