NORMAN — Singles group to meet tonight

The singles of First Baptist Church of Moore, 301 NE 27th St., will host Friday Night Live for Him at 7:30 tonight.

An optional dinner for $5 will begin at 6:30 p.m.

‘Prayer Encounters’ workshop at Memorial Presbyterian

A workshop with the Rev. Paul Burns, author of the book “Prayer Encounters,” will be at 7 p.m. on Feb. 1 at Memorial Presbyterian Church, 601 24th Ave. SW.

The book will be available for sale, but it is not necessary to read it prior to the workshop.

There is no cost to attend and reservations are not required.

Paul Burns grew up in Norman, the son of Memorial Presbyterian Church pastor Jim Burns, and earned a bachelor of music degree from the University of Oklahoma. After working as regional retirement planning consultant for Fidelity Investments in New York City, Paul graduated from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary and was a candidate for ministry in Indian Nations Presbytery. He now serves as pastor of Priest Lake Presbyterian Church in Nashville, Tenn.

Sign-up to begin Sunday for retreat

Early bird sign-up for the annual Women’s Retreat at Trinity Baptist Church, 801 N. Peters Ave., will begin on Sunday.  

The women’s precept study of 2 Thessalonians, “So You Won’t Be Deceived About His Coming,” begins on Jan. 29, and the Beth Moore study, “Stepping Up: A Journey Through the Psalms of Ascent,” begins on Feb. 12.
