NORMAN — Alameda Church of Christ

Sunday, Senior Minister Rusty Tugman will continue “A Christmas Story” sermon series with the lesson “Shepherd.” The sermon text comes from Luke 1 and 2.

Concord Missionary Baptist Church

John Jones will present the morning message. Sunday evening, will feature candlelight services on the theme, “The Songs Of Christmas.”

Echo Church

Sunday’s topic will be “Shoes — The Gift for the Woman at the Well,” from John 4.

Faith Pointe Baptist Church

Sunday, Pastor Gann will preach “He Gave,” from John 3:16. There will be no evening worship this week.

First Baptist Church

Sunday’s theme will be “The Good News of Christmas.” Dr. Wade Smith will bring the sermon “The Good News of Love” during the classic and LifeSong services.

First Christian Church

Sunday is the fourth Sunday of Advent, with the candle of Love lighted by the Hare Family in the 8:40 a.m. service and The Blair/Thompson/Knott/Niblett/Harvey Family in the 10:45 a.m. service. Sunday’s sermon is titled “Love – The Confounding Gift” based on Luke 1:39-55 with the Rev. David Spain preaching.

First Church of Christ, Scientist

Sunday’s sermon will be titled “Christ Jesus.”

First Presbyterian Church

On the fourth Sunday of Advent, Dr. Bob Rice will preach a sermon titled “A Window of Vulnerability” based on Matthew 1:18-21 and Luke 2:1-7. An orchestra directed by Dr. Irv Wagner and the Chancel Choir directed by Dr. Clark Kelly will lead the congregation in this service.

Goodrich Memorial United

Methodist Church

Pastor Jim Shepherd will bring the message “Is It Too Much to Hope For?” based on Micah 5:1-5a. There will be music from Handel’s Messiah.

Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church (WELS)

The fourth Sunday in Advent is celebrated with readings from the books of Luke and Hebrews.

Grace Presbyterian Church

Sunday, the Rev. Todd Dole will conclude the sermon series, “Expectation in the Epistles.” Sunday evening, Dole will preach from 1 Peter 3:1-7, “Wives and Husbands.”

Holy Ascension Orthodox Church

Sunday is the Sunday before the Nativity of Christ, the Sunday of Genealogy, in Tone 4/Eothinon 7. The Epistle reading for Divine Liturgy is St. Paul’s letter to the Hebrews 11:9-10 and 32-40. The Gospel reading is from St. Matthew 1:1-25.

McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church

Sunday will continue the sermon series “The Best Christmas Ever.” The Rev. Linda Harker (Sanctuary services) and the Rev. Randy Wade (Lifeline service in Fenn Hall) will preach a sermon titled “Jesus’ Wish List,” from John 17: 20-24.

Memorial Presbyterian Church

Sunday, the Rev. Tracy Evans’ message will be “Mary the Vulnerable” based on Luke 1:39-55.

St. Stephen’s United

Methodist Church

Sunday, the Rev. Amy Venable’s sermon will be, “From This Small Clan Comes Israel’s King,” from Micah 5:2-5.

South Canadian Valley Church of Christ

Sunday, Bruce Kessler’s sermon is titled “The One To Be Ruler” based on Micah 5:2.

Trinity Baptist Church

Sunday, Senior Pastor Ronnie W. Rogers will speak on “The Chronicle of Christmas Confusion.” There will be no Sunday evening service.

Trinity Lutheran Church (LC-MS)

The sermon for the fourth Sunday in Advent is titled “Blessed is Fruit of Your Womb,” from Luke 1:39-45.

United Church of Norman — UCC

“Seeing the World Through a Window of Hope!” is the title of the reflection that will be shared by the Rev. Warren Jensen. Morning worship will include an offering for Veterans of the Cross, retired clergy in the UCC. The scripture reading will be from Luke 1:39-45, and vs. 6-55

University Christian Church

Sunday, Dr. James Taylor will speak the Christmas message from 2 Corinthians 9:15 titled “A Gift Beyond Description.”

University Lutheran Church and Student Center (ELCA)

The fourth Sunday in Advent is celebrated with readings from the books of Luke and Hebrews.

Victory Church of Norman

Senior Pastor Fred Sellers plans to preach a sermon titled “The Best Christmas Tree is a Cross,” from Isaiah 9:6 and 53:5.

Wildwood Community Church

Sunday, teaching pastor Bruce A. Hess will speak on, “The Perplexing Miracle of Christmas: The Virgin Birth.”
