Jefferson
Tuesday, Jefferson students will participate in the Diabetes Walk at the Norman North High School track. Jefferson students chose the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation as their annual philanthropic fundraiser. Parents should make sure that their child has returned his or her permission slip for the trip to Norman North.
Thursday is Senior Day. Jefferson Dragons who are graduating high school seniors are invited to return to celebrate together and "ring the bell," a long-standing Jefferson tradition. Parents are welcome also.
Friday, is Super Kids' Day. Students in kindergarten through fifth grade will participate.
Eisenhower

Monday: Performance by Monroe percussion group "Manyawi" at 1 p.m. and talent show permission notes due
Tuesday:?Ike eats out at Boomerang, volunteer lunch, Mrs. Thrower's group to drama and debate workshop

Second-graders have been taking end of year instruction tests in everyday math.
Third grade is beginning its end of year unit on chocolate. All the festivities of kickball, Accelerated Reader Bash, Super Kids Day are winding down the year and will be made all the sweeter with a study of chocolate.
Thursday, students will celebrate reading with many fun literacy activities.?This all-day event is a tradition at Ike. To volunteer to help or for more information, call the school.
McKinley

Wednesday: Cartoonist Danny Gordon visits McKinley students and school-wide Poetry Slam
Thursday:?Pre-K will put on a puppet show for kindergarten classes.
Thursday also is McKinley's Volunteer Appreciation Day.? Anyone who has volunteered at McKinley in any way is invited to come by the library.?A bookplate will be prepared in honor of each volunteer, and they can select in which book they would like their bookplate.? Refreshments will be served during the casual reception times:?from 7:30 to 8:15 a.m. or between 2:30 and 4 p.m.
Friday: The annual fifth grade talent show will take place at 8:45 a.m. on the gym stage.
Preschool classes continue with busy end of the year activities next week with a Pre-K Father's Day breakfast 8 a.m. May 21 and the Pre-K end of the year party 9:30 a.m. May 23.
Kennedy
Kennedy students have working with visiting artists lately.?Pre-k and kindergarten participated in drumming activities with Todd Balcom, Janey Crain worked with first and fifth-graders with weaving, second grade did paper printing with Melissa Young and fourth grade did oriental brushwork with Beverly Herndon.?Sheryl Cozad also worked with selected students on a mural.?
The students were: kindergarten, Tristan Bearshears, Keyonna Cook, Naydi Cruz and Sybodh Shakya;?first grade,? Jada Cooperwood, Kade Tharp, Noah Basnight-Tsotigh and Matthew Miller; second and third grade, Desiree Lane, Anthony Wren, Livie Sandlin, Jaighla Agnew, Atticus Johnson, Mikayla Chandler and Alaysha Young; fourth and fifth grade, Jaogelynn Adams, Lauren Nelson, Catherine Murcia, Patrick Tsosie, Kaylie Garner and Jerelyn Magno.
Kennedy has started Morning Clubs, which are activities for students that occur before school starts.?Jackson and Madison Schools shared their ideas and Northeast Baptist Church and Kennedy's new Watch D.O.G.S. helped out.
Kennedy's Recorder Choir and Step Team performed May 2.?The groups went to Catlett Music Building at OU, Norman City Hall and the school's Partners In Education. Students said the highlights of the tour were seeing the organ in Gothic Hall at OU, meeting Mayor Cindy Rosenthal and eating at CiCi's. The Recorder Choir also performed for The Norman Public School Foundation Reception Thursday.

Truman
Sue Madole's first grade class hosted its annual "Mother's Day Tea" Friday. Mothers visited the classroom to enjoy a snack and to hear stories and receive a gift.
"Super Kids Day" will be 8:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday.?Students will enjoy the day as they participate in a wide variety of games and exercises.?All the events will be on the school playground supervised by physical education teachers Kimberly Barr, MaryAnne Tullius and Sonny Feexico. Many Truman parents also will be there to assist and hand out drinks.
Many Truman parents who participated in the fundraiser for the "Leukemia and Lymphoma Society."?The final amount raised was $10,900.?
Cynthia Love's third grade was visited by Dr. Liu who presented "Physics is Fun." It was an informative and entertaining physics lesson.?Later, Mrs. Love's students painted color wheels in art and took an "art walk" aroung the school.?Students wrote persuasive essays about a topic of their choice.
Everyday Math classes are doing units on "Weight and Volume."?Students are weighing objects and discussing ounces and pounds.?They also are reviewing measurement using rulers to check out the length of items in their classroom using?inches and centimeters.
Third grade classes are visiting Harn Homestead next week. First and?second-graders enjoyed a field trip to the Oklahoma City Zoo as part of their "Animal Study."
