· Sooners earn honors
University of Oklahoma senior Brianne Barker (Amarillo, Tx.) was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-America third team the organization announced today. Senior Suzy Boulavsky (Houston, Texas) and sophomore Sallie McLaurin (Midwest City.) were named to the All-America honorable mention team.
“We’re honored to have three All-Americans,” said Oklahoma head coach Santiago Restrepo. “The honors are well deserved, and we’re extremely happy our program has been rewarded for its success. Brianne is a talented setter, a tremendous athlete and great leader for our program. Suzy has been our most consistent hitter, and it’s a great honor to finish her career with. We’re very proud of Sallie earning this honor as a sophomore. She’s been steady for us and continues to progress.”
Barker was named third team All-American and first team All-Region for the second consecutive year. She commanded OU to a .246 hitting percentage this year and averaged 10.43 assists per set. She was second on the team with 3.07 digs per set. She earned first team All-Big 12 honors and was a 2010 AVCA third team All-American. OU’s .246 hitting percentage was the second highest by a Sooner team under Restrepo, ranking just behind a .262 clip in 2006.
