NORMAN — Hefting the hardware

The Team Metro Weightlifting Club of Norman recently entered seven of their lifters in the Kansas Weightlifting Championships held in Olathe, Kansas.

The team won four gold, two silver and one bronze metals and a best lifter award. Amy Deluca, Lauren Tillery, Jon May & Jon Mance won gold. Jon Mance also won a best lifter award. Michelle Willis and Braxton Wright won silver and Patrick Lowe won bronze.

Hole in one

Jim Maguire III playing in the United Way charity golf tournament on Oct. 21, 2012,  used a 5 iron on the 184 yard 17th hole at Westwood Park. It was his first hole in one after playing for almost 50 years. The shot was witnessed by Trey Jarvis and Mike Lacy.

Youth volleyball enrollment

Crosspointe Community Center’s “Winter Volleyball League” for kids ages 4-15 years old is almost here. Registration is open now. Cost is $90 and includes T-shirt and volleyball.

Evaluation clinic is Friday night December 14th 7:00-8:30 p.m. Practices and games begin in January. Register online at www.crosspointecommunitycenter.com/youth-league-registration.html

Tournament champs

The seventh grade Longfellow Lady Lions recently won the Longfellow Invitational. They topped CCS and Whittier before beating Alcott Middle School for the championship.
