NORMAN — Hitachi Computer Products (America) Inc. is hosting a 5K run/walk Saturday, Sept. 15 in Norman with proceeds to benefit the Center for Children and Families, Inc. (CCFI). The theme of the event, “Run for the Next Generation,” recognizes the importance of investing in the lives of children.
“Hitachi is excited to partner with CCFI and raise awareness and funds to heal children, empower youth and strengthen families,” said event director Tommy Fazendin. “Children today are growing up in increasingly challenging times, and we want to extend a hand of support and help as many children and families in our community as possible.”
Fazendin said the Hitachi Community Action Committee’s mission is to work together with the Hitachi Foundation to enhance the well being of economically isolated people, both locally and nationally.
“We are thrilled to be the beneficiary of Hitachi’s 5K event. They are a wonderful community partner for our agency and Norman,” said CCFI’s executive director Katie Fitzgerald. “I encourage the community to lace up their running or walking shoes and join us to help the children and families we serve. We are welcoming all ages to come participate.”
The run/walk will begin at Hitachi at 1800 E. Imhoff at 8 a.m., with registration to begin at 7 a.m. To register for the run/walk, visit www.ccfinorman.org or www.nextgeneration5k.eventbrite.com. Registration is just $25 per participant.
