NORMAN — Women’s Golf Clinic

Back by popular demand is the Westwood Women’s Fall Golf Clinic . The Spring clinic is a five-week program and will again be taught by PGA professionals David Lisle and Robert O. Smith; Amber Leoffelholtz, LPGA and other PGA and teaching professionals. These classes will be Tuesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., in a small, group environment, beginning Tuesday, Sept. 11 and ending on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012.

The classes will introduce participants to the clubhouse policies and procedures and teach fundamental guidelines and some course rules and etiquette. They will be taught the mechanics of the swing, putting, chipping and on the last night, move from the practice area out to actually play on the course. Whether a beginning player or learning further skills this clinic will help. Clubs to be provided during lessons for players without clubs.

  Call the Westwood Pro Shop at 292-9700 to register for the clinic. The cost for the clinic is $75, or $15 per class. Those who pay for all five classes the first night will be given a $10 discount and pay only $65 for the clinic.

Volleyball league forming

The Norman Parks and Recreation Department is proud to present the 2012 Volleyball League for boys and girls. There will be two leagues ages 14-under along with ages 11-under. Registration deadline is Friday. Forms can be downloaded at www.juniorjammer.com and may be turned in at any City of Norman Recreation Center or the Parks and Recreation office at City Hall. Registrations may also be returned by mail to Parks and Recreation P.O. Box 370 Norman, OK 73070 ATTN: Junior Jammer Volleyball.

League play is set to begin the week of Sept. 12 and games will be played at both Whittier and Irving Recreation Centers. The league is divided into two divisions determined by ages. For more information on the Junior Jammer Volleyball league please go to www.juniorjammer.com or call 405-292-9703.
