North’s Kolar gets offer from Oklahoma State

NORMAN — Norman North quarterback John Kolar still has a season to play, but the junior has already picked up a major offer to play in college.

Oklahoma State made the offer to Kolar, who stepped in at quarterback after Alabama commit David Cornwell went out with a knee injury. In just more than half the season, Kolar passed for more than 1,500 yards while completing 65 percent of his passes and throwing 15 touchdowns to just two interceptions.

He had unofficially visited OSU several times in the past few months, and worked out at their junior camp. Coaches have been impressed with his athleticism with both his arm and his feet, and offered him on Friday, Kolar confirmed through his Twitter account.

Norman North 83, Moore 73: Norman North tipped off against Moore on Friday with revenge on its mind. The Timberwolves lost to the Lions by three points earlier in the season but bounced back on Friday, jumping out fast against the Lions and holding them off late.

North jumped on top in the first quarter, but was only able to build a 36-30 lead at halftime. That was the same margin that held going into the fourth quarter, but that was when North took control of the game.

The Timberwolves were led by Lindy Waters, who turned in a huge night. The sophomore finished with 22 points, while Trae Young added 20 for North, which won its eighth straight game.

Norman North girls 59, Moore 52: Fresh off the news that it will host a regional for the third time in four years, Norman North cruised to a 59-52 win over Moore on Friday.

The seventh-ranked Timberwolves won their sixth straight game and moved to 14-4 on the season. They'll open the postseason with a home game against Edmond North at 8 p.m. on Feb. 27.

Midwest City girls 56, Norman High 41: After playing tight through three quarters, No. 4 Midwest City pulled away from Norman High to win.
