Tigers grab first win

NORMAN — The Tigers now have their first win of the season.

Norman High (1-3) handily defeated Bishop McGuinness, 52-33, on Thursday in the first round of the Bartlesville tournament to pick up the victory and advance to the semifinals tonight with the win.

The Tigers had a more balanced effort behind a huge game from freshman Bethany Franks, who led the way with 23 points. Taylor Ely was next with 17, and three other Tigers got into the scoring action as well.

Due to the winter weather that has blanketed the state for the past few weeks, NHS entered the tournament in the rare position of having only played three games by Christmas.

With two more games in Bartlesville and another tournament on the horizon, the Tigers will have a chance in the next two weeks to transition into midseason form.
