“We’ve had a hard time stringing together some practices, and there’s not much we can do about that,” Condley said. “But I was proud of the way the kids did today. We’re ahead of where we as a coaching staff thought we were.”
Another athlete who is right on schedule is Barrett, who has eyes on the state record in the two-mile race. He didn’t run that event on Friday, but did finish second in his first attempt at the 800, just a second behind winner Grey Howard.
“The first few meets are about getting comfortable and getting yourself going,” he said. “And I’m right on track at this point of the season.”
