Sooners’ Manning, Hook suffer injuries

NORMAN — In an open scrimmage Friday evening at Lloyd Noble Center, coach Sherri Coale’s Oklahoma women’s basketball team may have suffered a very big loss with its season very near.

During the scrimmage, redshirt freshman guard Maddie Manning, who lost her true freshman season to a torn anterior cruciate ligament in her right knee, suffered a potential season-ending knee injury to her left knee.

The program is still waiting to learn the exact nature of the injury, though it is feared to be serious.

Additionally, Sooner point guard Morgan Hook suffered a dislocated thumb on her right hand.

There is no timetable for Hook’s return to full action, though the program believes her time away will be measured in days rather than weeks.

Manning had just moved into the starting lineup last season when she blew out her knee in practice.

In six games last season, she averaged 21.5 minutes, 6.2 points and 3.3 rebounds.

The exhibition portion of OU’s schedule begins at 7 p.m. Nov. 2 against Cameron at Lloyd Noble Center.

The regular season begins Nov. 8, also at Lloyd Noble Center, against Stetson, as part of the Preseason WNIT.
