Their momentum was short-lived, however. On Lawton High’s next play from scrimmage, Warren broke free along the left side of the line, sprinted down the sideline, then cut against the grain for a 75-yard jaunt to the Norman 5-yard line. Ivan Thomas scored on the next play to finish the lightning-fast 80-yard drive that lasted just 22 seconds.
Norman had another answer, this time a 73-yard drive that ended on Dupree Young’s 1-yard plunge. Young finished the game with 187 yards on 25 carries, but his score was the final time Norman would answer with the game in doubt.
Warren scored again on a 16-yard run after an 80-yard touchdown run of his was called back. Later, after Norman was forced to punt, Sealey connected with Warren for a 40-yard touchdown pass on a wheel-route with 35 seconds left in the first half.
On its first possession of the second half, Norman drove the ball 60 yards and scored on an 11-yard run by Young.
A Lawton High fumble on its next possession after a long drive kept Norman’s chances for a comeback on life support, but its chances were intercepted, literally and figuratively on the next play, when Lawton High linebacker Mahlik Hanna stepped in front of a Jakcob Dean pass and returned it 17 yards for a touchdown.
