Westmoore's Fuller signs with Oklahoma Christian

OKLAHOMA CITY — Tripp Fuller was looking for a school that fit him. One where the Westmoore senior would feel at home at.

After a long search, Fuller found one and he didn’t have to look too far. Fuller signed a national letter of intent Wednesday to play basketball at Oklahoma Christian University.

“I’m actually Church of Christ and my faith has always been very important to me,” Fuller said. “I just felt like that was the best place for me, a place that I will fit in pretty well. Athletically, academically and spiritually.”

Fuller joined a large group of Westmoore athletes who signed their letters of intent in front of students, faculty and family.

One of those was Fuller’s coach Scott Hodges, who is sad to see his star player leave. But knows he’s going to a good program.

“We are all really excited for him,” Hodges said. “He’s a kid that has put in four years of hard work and deserves everything that he’s gotten. He’s going to a really good school. I’m pumped for him because it’s my alma matter. I’m a little extra excited.”

As a senior with the Jags, Fuller averaged 19.3 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.1 blocked shots per contest. He also shot 58 percent from the field and 41 percent from behind the arc. But it was the continual progression over the years that Hodges saw that let him know he was ready for the collegiate level.

“He came in his first two years and he was mainly a back to the basket type post player,” Hodges said. “He started to expand his game. And when he got better on the perimeter is when I could tell he’s good enough. We play in the best conference in the state averaging 17 points as a junior and 19 as a senior. So you know when he’s putting up those type of numbers he’s good enough to play at the next level.”
