BROCKPORT, N.Y. — Oklahoma won its 14th consecutive Brockport/Oklahoma Invitational title Saturday night, totaling 155.5 points.
Maryland was next with 127.5 points, followed by Army (110), American (102), Buffalo (90.5) and Brockport (22.5).
Oklahoma’s Kendric Maple was named Most Outstanding Wrestler for the second straight year. He claimed the 141-pound title by pinning Buffalo’s Andrew Schutt in 1:17. The redshirt junior also notched the fastest pin of the night when he took down Matt Dorf of American 13 seconds into his first match.
Cody Brewer (133), Nick Lester (149), Matt Lester (157) and Bubby Graham (165) also won titles for the Sooners.
Brewer joined Maple by earning his championship title in the 133-pound class with a fall, taking down Geoffrey Alexander of Maryland in 4:23.
Graham captured his 165-pound title with a 16-6 major decision over American’s Phil Barriero, while Nick and Matt Lester earned their wins with 5-2 and 5-3 decisions, respectively. The former battled against fellow Sooner Justin DeAngelis in the 157 bout. Sooner heavyweight Keldrick Hall also took second, dropping a 9-2 decision to American’s Blake Herrin.
A duo of freshmen, Kyle Garcia (125) and Matt Reed (174) and junior Kyle Detmer (165) finished third for the Sooners.
The Sooners return to the mat, and to New York state, Nov. 24 when they travel to Albany for the Northeast Duals.
