Area prep teams still in the hunt

NORMAN — Several Transcript-area teams are still alive in their respective playoffs, and will compete in the area tournament this week.

· Class 6A

Norman North girls:

North is one win away from the state tournament, and the T-Wolves (18-7) will meet Edmond Memorial (15-8) at 8 p.m. Thursday at Harrah for the contest. If they lose, they’ll have another shot at the state tournament at 1:30 p.m. Saturday against the winner of the Eisenhower-Choctaw game.

Norman High girls:

NHS is two wins away from the state tournament, and the Tigers (9-16) will have to go through No. 4 Southmoore (20-4) at 8 p.m. on Thursday in Choctaw to continue their run.

Southmoore girls:

After being upset by Edmond Memorial on Saturday, Southmoore must defeat first NHS and then win another game to advance to the state tournament.

· Class 5A

Noble boys:

After falling to Bishop Kelley in a close game in the regional final, Noble (12-13) will fight to stay alive when the Bears take on Skiatook (10-13) at 8 p.m. on Friday in Sapulpa.

· Class 3A

Washington girls:

The Warriors advanced to the area tournament through the consolation bracket, and must win three straight to advance to state. They begin that run with a 1:30 p.m. Thursday matchup against the loser of Millwood and Lindsay in Purcell.

Lexington boys:

Lexington (20-6) is also in the consolation bracket and must win three straight. The Bulldogs face off against Spiro (17-7) at 8 p.m. Thursday in Byng.
