NORMAN — It was a one-two sweep for Timberwolves and Tigers at Friday’s pre-state cross country meet.
Norman North, one of the favorites to compete for a state title on the girls’ side, easily outpaced the rest of field at the meet, which was run at Edmond Santa Fe, on the same course that will be used for the state meet. Most of the state’s top teams were in contention, which is a good omen for the T-Wolves as they prepare for regionals this month.
North finished with 52 points, while Norman High defeated Broken Arrow on tiebreakers at 100 points to claim second at the meet. Hayley Redwine led the way for the Tigers, finishing fourth with a time of 11:53.
On the boys’ side, Jenks won the event with a score of 32, while North finished third with 113 points and NHS came in fourth with 137.
The next major meet for both squads is the Mid-State Conference meet on Oct. 15.
