NORMAN — Norman HighBoys

Record: 6-9

Last week: Went 2-1 at the Bishop McGuinness Classic.

This week: The Tigers travel to Moore for a 7:45 p.m. game Friday.

Outlook: After struggling without the injured Jay Finley, the Tigers seemed to put some things together at McGuinness, taking two of three games behind a strong inside-out game. Friday’s rematch with Moore will tell if the Tigers have turned the corner as coach Matt Thornton hopes.

Girls

Record: 4-8

Last week: Did not win a game at the Westmoore Tournament.

This week: NHS will play at 6:15 p.m. Friday at Moore.

Outlook: The Tigers are struggling without the injured Taylor Ely, who was unable to play at all over the weekend. Coach Nichole Copeland hopes that Ely can return to the floor Friday when NHS travels to Moore.

Norman NorthBoys

Record: 5-6

Last week: Went 2-1 and took third place at the Bishop McGuinness Classic.

This week: The T-Wolves host Del City on Monday in a rescheduled game from November and then play the rematch on the road on Friday.

Outlook: Coach Butch Roberts said the Timberwolves took several steps at McGuinness, and they will try to build on that this week, with a pair of games with Del City. North’s inside game with Kairo Rutledge is steadily improving, a good thing considering the T-Wolves hold a decided size advantage against Del City.

Girls

Record: 11-3

Last week: Went 2-1 and finished in second place in the East Central Oklahoma tournament.

This week: After Monday’s rescheduled game with Del City at home, the T-Wolves go on the road for the rematch on Friday.

Outlook: An otherwise impressive performance during the tournament weekend was dampened by a lackluster performance on Saturday. Two big games with Del City this week will give North an opportunity to bounce back from the loss to Class 5A’s top-ranked Shawnee.
