North’s Johnsoncaptures tourney

BROKEN ARROW — Norman North finished in the middle of the pack Thursday at Emerald Falls Golf Club, but Thomas Johnson did not.

He finished in front.

Shortened to an 18-hole event, nobody put together a round any better than Johnson’s 1-under par 71 on the 6,704-yard layout.

With Johnson’s medalist-winning performance leading the way, the Timberwolves managed a 314 team total, good for a ninth-place finish in the 17-school, 20-team event.

Jenks, Union and Edmond North each sported two teams with Union “A” team winning the event with a 299 total, clipping Edmond North’s “A” team by a single stroke and Edmond North’s “B” team by four strokes.

Norman High, with a 338 total, claimed 14th place. The Tigers were led by Turner Howe’s score of 79.

Johnson received support from North teammates Blake Barnhart and Ty Howell, who each carded an 80.
