Changing the schedule wasn’t ideal, and it costs each team at least one game, but Armstrong believes their plan is the best for all the athletes involved.
“My philosophy as tournament director is to have every team play each other once, then play at least one game at OU,” Armstong said. “The third philosophy is to finish the bracket. We talked to the coaches, and this plan guarantees everyone at least seven games. When they’ve traveled 5 to 1,300 miles be here, it’s about how many games they can get in. Our goal is getting more kids more time on the field, and that’s what these teams really want for their players.”
