Tiger starters going deep: One of the keys that coach NHS coach Pete Sangirardi has been looking for in recent weeks from his starting pitching staff is an ability to go deep in games, and it’s something that the staff has begun to provide.
PJ Grunsted was the latest to provide a big outing, going the distance in a 5-0 win over Sand Springs on Tuesday. The day before, it was Jason Burt going six complete innings for the Tigers, who have won seven in a row.
Tigers fighting for position: With a pair of district games left against Jenks, the Tigers have a chance to move up in District 6A-4. At 5-7 in district play, NHS trails fourth-place Muskogee by a game. NHS will meet Jenks for a doubleheader on Saturday while Muskogee closes out the regular season with a pair of district games against Sapulpa.
Depending on how the games go, NHS could finish as high as fourth or as low as sixth in the district, which will affect where it is sent for regional play.
