Dean makes good on first Clash outing by minimizing mistakes

NORMAN —

Royals preparing for showdown: CCS was impressive in an opening-week, blowout victory over Drumright, but the true test for the Royals lies ahead.

CCS, which is playing its final season before officially joining the OSSAA and being placed in a district, has tried to fill the season with as much competition as possible despite scheduling conflicts.

One of coach Paul Potter’s best accomplishments in that regard is Thursday’s game against Casady. The Cyclones narrowly lost to Heritage Hall last week and are one of the toughest opponents the Royals will face this season.

It’s a matchup that Potter is excited for, and one he sees as an important benchmark for his squad.

“We’re going to find out next week exactly where we are,” he said. “And we’re going to throw the kitchen sink at them, because we’ll need to.”
