Still some critical games left to play

NORMAN — Heading into the final week of regular season games, the playoff picture is still very much in flux. Here’s where all of the Transcript’s area teams stand.

District 6A-2

Westmoore (6-3, 4-2) is guaranteed a playoff berth, but where the Jaguars end up isn’t yet determined. They enter this week’s game with Broken Arrow tied with Putnam City for third place, though the Pirates hold the head-to-head tiebreaker.

— If Westmoore beats Broken Arrow and Putnam City loses to Jenks, the Jaguars finish in second place.

— If Westmoore beats Broken Arrow by at least 13 points and Putnam City beats Jenks, the Jaguars finish in second place. A win by anything less than that and the Jaguars will finish third.

— If Westmoore loses to Broken Arrow and Putnam City beats Jenks, the Jaguars finish fourth.

— If Westmoore loses to Broken Arrow and Putnam City loses to Jenks a third team, Sapulpa, enters the picture. In that case, if Sapulpa beats Tulsa Edison, the Jaguars will finish third. If instead Sapulpa loses, the Jags will finish fourth.

District 6A-3

In Class 6A’s only fully-decided district, Norman North (8-1, 6-0) is guaranteed first place no matter what happens when the T-Wolves travel to Lawton Eisenhower tonight. Moore (2-7, 2-4) will end its season Friday with a trip to Midwest City.

District 6A-4

Norman High (7-2, 5-1) is guaranteed second place. Four teams — Lawton, Southmoore, Putnam City North and Mustang — are fighting it out for the remaining spots.

The scenarios for Southmoore (6-3, 3-3), which hosts Mustang, are bit more murky and district points will likely come into play. Teams gain or lose district points according to how many points they win or lose a district game by, with a cap of 15 points per game. Heading into Friday’s games, Lawton has 24 points, Mustang has two, Southmoore has negative-two and Edmond Memorial has negative-eight.
