Several other athletes from NHS and North also won events. NHS’ Mackenzie Wahpepah-Harris made his return from injury and won the 3200, while Caleigh Donaghe won the discus with a throw of 111 feet. Sophomore Celyan Bowler won the long jump, Cole Ridgway won the shot put, Colin Pasque won the pole vault, and Imond Robinson won a tightly-contested 100-meter dash.
“The race was the epitome of what my coaches told me, it doesn’t matter who’s first out of the blocks, it’s how you finish,” said Robinson, who helped the Tigers to a third-place finish. “With that race, I’m pretty confident going to regionals. And I’ve still got three races to run for state, so we’ll see how it plays out.”
North’s boys finished fourth at the event, led by the 400 relay team, which finished first, and Adam Chukwurah, who won the high jump.
