North North girls capture first team title in Cowboy Jamboree

NORMAN — The Norman North girls cross country won the team competition at the 77th annual Cowboy Jamboree in Stillwater Saturday by a margin of 54 places over Grapevine High School in a field of 21 teams.

Grapevine’s Skyler Simon took first place individual honors with a time of 11:21.51 while Norman High School girls placed sixth in the team competition with Hayley Redwine finishing seventh at 11:46.02.

The Norman North boys placed sixth out of 23 teams as their top finisher, Ben Barrett, took third overall with an individual time of 16:17.53.

Norman High boys finished 11th overall with all seven runners finishing in the top 100 individually.

The win marks the first time in school history a Norman North cross country team has placed higher than third in the Jamboree, the largest meet of the year other than the state championship meet. The North girls individual times were:

Belle Wallace 11:43 fifth place

Abbey Mace 11:44 sixth place

Isabella Rose 11:50 ninth place

Sheridan Spelman 12:17 17th place

Rachel Chrisman 12:18 18th place

Elise Base 12:38 28th place

Madeline Brown 12:50 43rd place
