ARDMORE — Oklahoma men’s basketball coach Jeff Capel’s salary will pass the $1 million mark next year, the University of Oklahoma Board of Regents approved at their regular meeting Wednesday.

The coach who brought the Sooners back to the NCAA tournament received a two-year contract extension, so that it now runs through 2014. He also received a big raise. Though his base salary was only increased $10,000 to $220,000, his total package still received a $300,000 bump to $1.05 million.

Additionally, he will receive a $600,000 bonus if he remains at OU through 2014.
