Todd was one four players in the flight to reach red numbers, but was only able to secure a two-shot lead. Ryan Munson fired a 67 and trails by two strokes heading into today’s second round. Jeff Higgins and Jamie Parkman were four shots back at 1 under. Scott Ward, Gary Stout and Andre Metzger all shot even par. First Flight Friday wasn’t exactly a day of separation in this flight. The quartet of Alex McAllister, Jeff McCalip, Wayne Roberts and Shawn Stuever are at the top at even par. But there isn’t much of a gap in the flight. Over half of the 32 players finished the first round within six shots of the lead. Jeff Penny is one shot back after he opened with a 71. Charles Johnston is also well within striking distance after a 72. Second Flight Steve Parham was one of the tournament’s few players who played his best on the back nine and the first-round lead came with it. Parham opened with a 73, but was just 1 over on the back. The effort only secured a one-stroke advantage for the second round. Darren Ballew and Jack Scott both shot 74. Kristian Akey and Jeff Jones are two back after both carded 75s. Third Flight Curt Masters breezed through the opening round with a 72 and spent the rest of the holiday resting on a two stroke lead. Perry Grave is well within striking distance at 4 over and John Ritz is three shots off the leader’s pace after his 75. Mike Barnett made it around with a 76.
