Fullback's a tough position

John Shinn
The Norman Transcript

But Clapp, a junior, gets to see how much his body can take this season. He spent last year in redshirt while Dane Zaslaw and Ian Pleasant shared the duties.

How much the Sooners will do out of a two-back offense remains to be seen. Most teams in college football have gone to spread offenses, dumping fullbacks for another receiver.

OU hasn’t gone that far just yet. It still has a need for someone who’s willing to give up his body to create a hole. It still has a need for players like Clapp.

“You need to have that toughness,” Wilson said.
