OU coach Bob Stoops announced Monday morning Peterson’s injured collarbone will keep him on the bench. “We’re not expecting him to play,” Stoops said on the Big 12 coaches conference call. “His CT scan or bone scan showed there is still a little bit of healing that needs to be done. This won’t change, I don’t believe. But we’re not expecting him to play, no.” Peterson has rushed for 935 yards in the first six games this season, but suffered the injury in the fourth quarter of OU’s Oct. 14 victory over Iowa State. Team doctors expected the injury to take six weeks to heal and many speculated he will be back in the lineup for the Bedlam game. Stoops did say there’s a pretty good chance Peterson will play in the bowl game. While Peterson remains out, he’s hoping Allen Patrick will be back from the ankle injury that’s kept him out the last two games. “He’s closer and closer,” Stoops said. “It’s one of those? Well, everybody’s had them. Eventually they’re over the hump and able to do the things they’re used to doing. We’re hoping that will happen for him this week.” Patrick has rushed for 502 yards and two touchdowns this season. If not, Jacob Gutierrez and Chris Brown will continue to handle the running back duties.
