BROOKLYN, New York —
The Sooners exploited second, third and fourth chances to beat Seton Hall 86-85 during Friday’s Coaches vs. Cancer semifinal at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
OU (4-0) trailed Seton Hall 85-79 with a little more than 30 seconds left when a pressing Sooner defense managed to force a turnover shortly after a Seton Hall inbound. From there, the rally was on.
The Sooners continued to create turnovers for five more points until OU guard Buddy Hield hit the tying and go-ahead baskets at the foul line with nine seconds left. A last-second shot by Seton Hall fell short and OU advanced to today’s 7:30 p.m. championship game against the winner of No. 1 Michigan State and Virginia Tech.
Cameron Clark finished with 20 points and nine rebounds, Isaiah Cousins scored a career-high 19 on 7-for-8 shooting, Hield finished with 13 and freshman Jordan Woodard added 11, all in the second half. Ryan Spangler finished with 6 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 block and 3 steals.
