STILLWATER — Norman North is headed to next week’s Class 6A state golf tournament. So are Southmoore and Moore. NHS’ Turner Howe is too, but his teammates will have to stay home.
Monday was regional day at Lakeside Golf Course and the Edmond schools dominated, with Edmond North prevailing with a 36-hole score of 16-over par 576, 15 shots in front of Edmond Santa Fe and 23 in front of Edmond Memorial.
That left three remaining spots for the state tourney, which begins Monday at Karsten Creek, and area programs won them all — North (607), Southmoore (617), Moore (627) — but NHS, with rounds of 333 and 332 was not one of them.
The key for North was consistency. Nobody broke par but, led by Thomas Johnson’s (73-71) 144 total, everybody was in the 70s.
Howe qualifed as an individual after rounds of 78 and 74.
