NORMAN — After a dramatic comeback on Wednesday to keep their state tournament hopes alive, the Tigers couldn’t follow up on that Friday, falling 9-1 to Yukon at the Yukon regional
Norman High completed a wild comeback over Moore in walkoff fashion on Wednesday despite playing with a lineup that has been decimated by injuries this season. On Friday, it was Yukon’s power that was evident, as the Millers homered three times in the victory.
“We showed up ready to play but we gave up three unearned runs in the first inning and that kind of sets the tone,” coach Pete Sangirardi said. “You’re already down and you haven’t even come to the plate yet. The kids stayed in it and battled, just not enough offensive power.”
With the loss, NHS ends its season at 14-15, a marked improvement over last year’s 12-19 record.
