Aylor gets benchmark win with T-Wolves

NORMAN — Norman North’s victory over Southmoore on Monday was more than another district victory for the T-Wolves. It was also a milestone win for coach Brian Aylor.

Aylor, in his ninth year at the helm, earned his 200th win at North in the 8-2 victory.

Under Aylor, the T-Wolves have become a conference and district power, hosting regionals and making deep playoff runs. This season they are off to an 11-4 start and are 6-1 in district play.

More rescheduling announced: After rain forced the cancellation of a number of events Tuesday and Wednesday, officials at Norman North have announced makeup dates for several.

The soccer games against US Grant have been rescheduled to Monday, with JV games at 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. and varsity games starting at 6 and 8 p.m.

The North baseball team will meet Southmoore at 5 p.m. on April 12 to finish out the district series. Norman High, which has a pair of games to make up with Putnam City North, is still looking at several possible dates to play the games.

Tigers finding their way at the plate: NHS coach Pete Sangirardi said it was his team’s pitching that has kept them in games so far, with four of their six losses coming by just a run.

But that may be changing. Even while his pitchers had an off-day on Saturday against Choctaw, the Tigers came alive with their bats. They banged out 12 hits while scoring 7 runs, by far one of their most productive days at the plate.

“We hit the ball really well, one of our best games of the year,” Sangirardi said. “But we made four errors and it was just one of those days where your pitchers don’t have their best stuff. But starting to hit like that is a good sign for us.”
