MUSTANG — After having to sweat through a shootout in Thursday’s opener at the Bronco Classic, the Norman High boys didn’t have to sweat much Friday night.

Playing the late game at the event, the Tigers were on the board 13 minutes into the game, had insurance in their pocket by the 32 minute mark, added one more before the half and three more tallies after the half to crush Guymon 6-0.

Five games into their soccer season, the Tigers have yet to lose.

“It’s always a nice feeling,” NHS coach Gordon Drummond said of his squad’s thus-far perfect season, before turning to the game at hand. “The score was something else, but we were really on top of our game and we’ve finally put spring break behind us.”

Assisted by Paul Starr, it was Theo Ostas who scored the only goal the Tigers would need. Starr added the second goal. Hayden Jones, who assisted Starr, scored the third and fourth goals. Ostas, assisted by Matt Tidwell, made it 5-0. Then it was Tidwell, set up by Zac Terry, netting the game’s final goal.

“We were unselfish and we moved the ball well,” Drummond said. “(The players) feel very, very good about their performance and I think they should.”

NHS outshot Guymon 21 to 2.

Tiger keeper Andrew Arledge needed just one save to collect his second shutout of the season.

The third-ranked Tigers close out the event with a noon kick-off today against Bronco Classic host Mustang.
