MUSTANG — Nothing comes too easy for the Norman High boys. On the other hand, every win counts and Saturday’s 1-0 Bronco Cup finale over Mustang has the third-ranked Tigers a perfect 6-0 on the season.

Junior midfielder Matt Hockett scored the game’s only goal with just 1:28 remaining. Milton Cruz had the assist on Hockett’s tally, which was par for the course for the Tigers, who have only won one game by more than one goal.

“The cardiac kids I guess,” NHS coach Gordon Drummond said of his team. “We like to keep things close.”

NHS outshot the Broncos 22 to 2.

“We were hitting the ball high and wide,” Drummond said. “Finally the ball was played across the 18 (and) Matt Hockett stepped up and hit an absolute screamer into the bottom corner.”

The Tigers can make it 7-0 when they get back on the field Tuesday at Putnam City West.
