NORMAN — The final piece of Oklahoma’s staff was added Tuesday with the hiring of Drew Hill as director of player personnel.
OU coach Bob Stoops announced the hiring after the position had been vacant for nearly four months after Reed Case left to accept a similar position at Texas.
Hill joins the Sooners’ staff after serving two years on staff at Colorado State in the same role working with head coach Jim McElwain.
He will direct all aspects of OU’s recruiting program in conjunction with Stoops, recruiting coordinator/running backs coach Cale Gundy and the rest of the coaching staff.
The position Hill assumes does not have on-the-field coaching duties. The job include scholarship management, as well as the coordination of the recruiting calendar for members of the coaching staff.
Prior to his stint with Colorado State, Hill spent eight seasons at Fresno State as the program’s football operations coordinator. During his tenure with the Bulldogs, the squad earned six bowl berths. He joined Fresno State after three years serving at Southern Mississippi as assistant director of football operations as the Golden Eagles earned a pair of bowl bids.
Hill does possess NFL experience. He served as a college scouting assistant with the Atlanta Falcons and was a member of the organization during its NFC Championship run that culminated with an appearance in Super Bowl XXXIII following the 1998 season.
