Sooners land four-star commitment

NORMAN — Oklahoma picked up its fifth commitment for its 2015 recruiting class with the addition of four-star cornerback P.J. Mbanasor.

Four of the five commitments are members of the ESPN Top 300.

Mbanasor (6-foot-1, 176 pounds) is’s No. 8 cornerback. has the senior to be at Plfugerville (Hendrickson High School), Texas, as the No. 23 cornerback in the country and 28th best player in Texas.

The Sooners have a teammate connection that likely helped in the process. Former Plfugerville running back Samaje Perine signed with OU in February and will be a freshman this season.

The addition of Mbanasor is big for the Sooners. Last month he listed OU with Nebraska, Notre Dame, Michigan State, Ohio State, Florida and LSU in his top seven last month.

Mbanasor joins fellow four-star recruits: Offensive lineman Bobby Ebans (Allen, Texas), defensive back Jamile Johnson (Dallas South Oak Cliff) and defensive tack Marquise Overton (Jenks).

The Sooners also have a commitment from Belleville, Ill., kicker Austin Seibert.

He is a three-star recruit with, but is the No. 1 kicker and No. 2 punter in the country.

All verbal commitments are non-binding. In the case of Mbanasor, OU is the second school he’s given his verbal pledge to. He committed to TCU in January only to reopen the recruiting process two months later.
