NORMAN — Oklahoma’s run through the postseason ended with a thud Wednesday as it lost 3-0 to Texas in the Big 12 Conference Championship quarterfinals at Blossom Soccer Stadium in San Antonio.
In two games against the Longhorns (8-10-1) this year, the Sooners (7-9-4) have been shutout in both losing by a combined score of 4-0.
Despite having the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year, Renae Cuellar, on its team, Oklahoma was outshot 13-5 by the Longhorns.
Texas took the lead in the 25th minute when an own goal by Oklahoma gave UT a 1-0 edge.
The Longhorns increased their advantage to two goals just under three minutes later when Kelsey Shimmick converted from 14 yards out thanks to assists from Chantale Campbell and Hannah Higgins.
Senior goalkeeper Kelsey Devonshire made five saves for the Sooners, increasing her career total to 390 — the most in the 16-year history of the OU program.
Oklahoma, which made its eighth Big 12 Championship appearance, fell to 3-7-1 all-time in conference tournament action — including to 2-1 against Texas.
