NORMAN — Avenging a loss to Yukon almost a year ago that ended its season, the NHS girls were able to jump out to an early lead and hold on late to earn the consolation championship, 42-37, at the Carl Albert tournament.
With the win, the Tigers accomplished the goal of winning two games that coach Nichole Copeland set for them, including the win over a higher-ranked Yukon team. NHS held onto a 10-point lead for most of the game before the Millers made a late run, but the Tigers were able to make just enough free throws to close out the game.
Next up for NHS is a tough week with games against Southmoore and Midwest City.
