NORMAN — Norman High

Boys

Record: 7-10

Last week: In their only game of the week, the Tigers lost to Westmoore on Tuesday.

This week: The Tigers have home games against Southmoore and Midwest City, both teams that knocked off NHS earlier in the season.

Outlook: Jay Finley is progressing faster than expected and plans to play Tuesday against Southmoore. It’s an important addition for the Tigers, who have been without Finley for more than a month.

Girls

Record: 8-9

Last week: Took fifth place at the Carl Albert tournament, winning two games on the weekend.

This week: NHS will host Southmoore on Tuesday and Midwest City on Friday.

Outlook: A lot of things are going right for coach Nichole Copeland’s team right now. The Tigers recently got leading scorer Taylor Ely back from injury and won two games in a tough field at the Carl Albert tournament.

Norman North

Boys

Record: 9-8

Last week: Finished second at the Shawnee tournament, winning two games before falling 61-56 to Southeast in the title game.

This week: The T-Wolves play No. 1 Midwest City at home on Tuesday and Moore on Friday.

Outlook: Things are progressing nicely for North. The freshman duo of Lindy Waters and Marcus Dickinson is getting better, and the upperclassmen also have made strides. The combination makes for a dangerous North team that has the talent to compete at the highest level if the Timberwolves can eliminate some of the mental mistakes that still occasionally plague them.

Girls

Record: 12-5

Last week: Dropped an ugly game to Southmoore on Tuesday.

This week: After having the tournament weekend off, the T-Wolves host Midwest City on Tuesday and Moore on Friday.

Outlook: It’s not time for panic yet at North, where the T-Wolves have lost three of four — all to top-10 teams from Class 5A and 6A. Still, North could use a big win against No. 8 Midwest City on Tuesday.
