NORMAN —

CCS

Boys

Record: 13-3

Last week: The Royals pulled off an impressive overtime win against Class 5A’s Noble on Tuesday and competed in the Cashion tournament over the weekend.

This week: CCS faces Maysville on Tuesday and Elmore City Pernell on Saturday, with both games coming at home.

Outlook: If there was any doubt that CCS was a real threat in Class 2A, it should be eliminated after a week in which the Royals showed they have what it takes to compete with much larger schools. Next up are a string of games against similarly sized competition before the playoffs begin in two weeks.

Girls

Record: 9-7

Last week: Dropped a close game to Class 5A’s Noble on Tuesday.

This week: After a week playing against larger schools, CCS goes the other way this week with games against Class A teams Maysville and Elmore City Pernell on Tuesday and Saturday.

Outlook: The Royals faced an uphill battle last week with several games against opponents from higher classes, and they largely held their own. Just a few weeks from the start of the postseason, that’s an encouraging sign for the Royals.
