SAN ANTONIO — If the fifth-ranked Oklahoma women left anything to be desired during the fall portion of their 2013-14 schedule, they took care of it the last three days at the 15-team Alamo Invitational.

On the way to their first victory of the school year, the Sooners busted several program records on the way to an eight-stroke victory over LSU Wednesday at Briggs Ranch Golf Club.

The Sooners closed with an amazing 12-under par round of 276, setting one program record, good for a 54-hole total of 840, setting another. The 54-hole standard the Sooners broke came last year at the same event when they carded an 848.

Freshman Alexandra Kaui led the way, finishing up with the best 18-hole score in program history, carding 11 pars and seven birdies for a 65 that bested the 66 Kim O’Connor fired off during the 1994-95 school year.

Along with opening rounds of 68 and 73, Kaui’s 54-hole total of 10-under 206 marked yet another program best and put her in second place among 81 competitors.

“I feel ecstatic and happy,” Kaui said. “It feels great to shoot such a low round to help the team win the tournament.”

Senior Anne-Catherine Tanguay gave the Sooners a pair of top-five finishers, taking fifth with a 54-hole 212 total.

Fellow seniors Emily Collins and Chirapat Jao-Javenil both finished tied for seventh with 3-under par 213 totals. Senior Kaitlin Rohrbach closed with a 2-under 70 to post 215 and tie for 17th-place among individuals.

It was the last tournament for the Sooners before the spring season begins at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes Estates, Calif., Feb. 9-11.
