OKLAHOMA CITY — Oklahoma City has tied the record high temperature for Dec. 18.
The National Weather Service says the high temperature at Will Rogers Airport on Wednesday reached 69 degrees, tying the daily record high temperature for Dec. 18 set in 1982.
The weather service says more December heat is expected Thursday, when the high temperature is forecast to reach 68 in central Oklahoma.
Forecasters say Thursday will be extremely warm and afternoon temperatures will soar more than 20 degrees above normal in the western half of Oklahoma and adjacent parts of Texas.
Elevated fire conditions are possible across western Oklahoma and parts of Texas where humidity levels will be low. Very gusty south winds are also expected.
A winter storm is forecast to make Oklahoma’s weather more seasonal by early Friday.
