Hail, wind gusts pound northeast Okla.

TULSA — The National Weather Service in Tulsa says it has received reports of hail ranging from nickel-sized to ping pong ball-sized as well as strong wind gusts.

The weather service says nickel-sized hail was reported in Wagoner County on Thursday about 2:45 p.m. Rogers County reported ping pong ball-sized hail around the same time.

Hail the size of tennis balls were reported in around 6 p.m. near Checotah. Quarter-sized hail slammed Muskogee County earlier.

Northeastern Oklahoma also saw strong winds. The weather service received a report from an emergency manager in Mayes County that winds were gusting 70 mph. A storm chaser also reported wind gust of 70 mph in Wagoner County.
